Fragrance has no gender, only character

“For him” and “for her” labels are a marketing habit, not a property of the scent. Lavender, oud, rose, saffron and sandalwood have been worn by everyone for centuries. A unisex perfume is simply one that is described by how it smells and when it fits, so you can choose by mood instead of by aisle.

That makes choosing easier: start from the impression you want to leave, then find the notes that create it.

Read the family before the notes

A fragrance family tells you the overall direction in one line. Four families cover most everyday choices:

  • Fresh and aquatic: clean, airy and easy for daytime, work and travel.
  • Fresh spicy and woody: bright citrus warmed by spice over soft woods; polished without being heavy.
  • Amber and oud: rich, rounded and sweet-smoky; made for evenings and occasions.
  • Woody oud: bold and dry with pepper and deep woods; confident and expressive.

Then look at how it unfolds

Top notes are the first impression, heart notes are the character, and base notes are the trail that stays closest to you. If you love the opening but not the base, you will not love the perfume for long, so always let a fragrance settle on skin before deciding.

Choosing within the VikAa first edition

First Light is the fresh aquatic choice, with notes of sea air, lavender and cedarwood. Velvet Ember is fresh spicy and woody, moving from yuzu to nutmeg and sandalwood. Night Shades is amber and oud, with rose and oud wrapped in tonka bean. After Hours is woody oud, opening with black pepper over sandalwood. Every one of them is made to be worn by anyone.
